Compliance Officer (Transport) | Kaiarahi Tūtohu (Ikiiki)

About the role
As our Compliance Officer (Transport), you’ll be the first point of contact for Submitica, BeforeUdig and all systems and processes related to accessing the road corridor.
You’ll balance office-based coordination with regular site visits — auditing temporary traffic management, inspecting reinstatements, and ensuring works meet safety and compliance standards.
You will:
- ensure all Corridor Access Requests (CARs) and Temporary Traffic Management Plans (TTMPs) are processed and delivered on time
- Audit TTMPs, warrants and traffic management plans to ensure compliance and safety
- Coordinate roading reinstatements, compaction testing, vehicle crossings and permits (50MAX, HPMV, Overweight)
- Inspect trench reinstatements to ensure they meet Council standards
- Ensure TTM approvals, inspections and audits meet agreed performance objectives
- Follow documented procedures including the National Code of Practice for Utility Operators and relevant TTM documentation (Copttm and NZGTTM)
- Respond to Service Requests and Elected Member queries within required timeframes
- Participate in internal and external meetings and forums
- Build and maintain strong, constructive relationships with contractors, utilities, developers and internal teams
About you
This role requires technical capability, sound judgement and the confidence to have constructive conversations on site.
You’ll need to show us that you bring:
- Demonstrated knowledge of the National Code of Practice for Utility Operators’ Access to the Transport Corridor, Traffic Control Devices Manual (TCD), Code of Practice for temporary traffic management (Copttm) and the NZ Guide to Temporary Traffic Management (NZGTTM)
- Traffic Management qualification – STMS Level 1, and TTM Auditor qualification
- Proven experience in working with Submitica, BeforeUdig and Temporary Traffic Management
- Experience auditing temporary traffic management and assessing compliance and safety
- Experience in road construction and/or traffic management
- Experience inspecting trenching and reinstatements
- Strong relationship-building skills
- Analytical skills and solid computer capability (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Current full Class 1 driver licence
- Physical ability to carry out regular site inspections
- Understanding and commitment to health and safety in the workplace
- Understanding and commitment to diverse workplaces
- Understanding of the principles of the Tiriti o Waitangi
