Customer Services Officer (Recreation) | Kaiārahi Ratonga Kiritaki (Mahi ā-Rēhia)


We’ve got an exciting opportunity for you to join a great team providing excellent customer service in the heart of Porirua. You will bring your friendly and positive approach to welcome our customers to Te Rauparaha Arena. 

About the role

We have permanent full-time role available now in our friendly customer services team, working in the front foyer at Te Rauparaha Arena. 

This role will enable you to interact with customers in-person and over the phone. You will need to respond positively to queries displaying knowledge of all of our activities, pricing and events. You will be super efficient using point of sale systems while maintaining positive engagement with your team and your customers. This can be a fast-paced customer service environment with over half a million customers visiting throughout the year. 

The Reception team work seven days a week, opening time is 5:00am and closing is at 9:30pm during the week and from 7:00am to 7:30pm on weekends. Shifts will be rostered in advance for any day of the week. From time to time, you may be rostered for later finishes for Arena events and functions.

Porirua City is a living wage accredited employer and the starting hourly rate for this role is $30.20

All about you

You’ll need to show us that you:

  • are friendly and welcoming in your approach, creating an exceptional customer experience
  • have previous experience in a customer service role
  • can work efficiently while paying attention to detail and are a quick learner
  • have the ability to be a super user of our operating systems and train others, as well as having excellent computer skills
  • enjoy working in a team and meeting new people
  • can thrive in busy environments and keep your cool in pressured situations
  • currently hold, or are willing to obtain, a first aid qualification
  • can commit to the rostered hours working any day of the week.
